Clients tell us “We just want more light. It is so dark in our house”. They usually want to remove a tree or trees entirely to accomplish their goals. While tree removal is a quick and viable option it is seldom the best solution. Trees add significant value to a property in numerous ways. They act as sound buffers protecting a home from unwanted freeway noise. They are nature’s air conditioners, keeping cooling costs down in the summer and moderating heating expenses in the winter. They cleanse the very air that we breathe. Mature, healthy trees add to property values. Realtors feel that they have strong positive impacts on a homes salability. A recent Journal of Environmental Horticulture article indicated that trees can raise the perceived value of a home by up to eleven percent. And then there is their ecological role and aesthetic impact.
